Trust

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

Times are a little chaotic for some of us right now. They are definitely uncertain. It is in times like this we often are struggling to find something that we can grab a hold of, an anchor. We look for stability. We may find it in new routines or doing things to forget about the problems(play video games, binge watch tv shows, etc…). We forget that the only foundation we need is God. We need to trust in Him to get us through these times. Trust however doesn’t come easy.

What is trust? Trust means to rely on. We don’t always trust other people do we? It is after getting to know someone that we begin to trust them more. Our relationship with God isn’t any different from our point of view is it? The only difference, God is always to be trusted and relied upon.

I have a good friend who is in the hospital, He went there struggling to breathe. It was uncertain what would happen. He ended up in Intensive care. Many of us began to pray for him. Praise the Lord, he is better now and on his way to recovery. Through this time, he was trusting in God. He was trusting that whatever Gods plans were, he was ready.

It reminds of the hymn ‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus. the words were written by Louisa Stead. She wrote the words after her husband jumped into Long Island sound to save a young boy from drowning. He ended up drowning himself. It was through this tragedy she found resolve in her relationship with God. This hymn has been a source of strength for many. Here are the word:

  1. ’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
    Just to take Him at His Word;
    Just to rest upon His promise,
    And to know, “Thus saith the Lord!”

    • Refrain:
      Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
      How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;
      Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
      Oh, for grace to trust Him more!

  2. Oh, how sweet to trust in Jesus,
    Just to trust His cleansing blood;
    And in simple faith to plunge me
    ’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

  3. Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
    Just from sin and self to cease;
    Just from Jesus simply taking
    Life and rest, and joy and peace.

  4. I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
    Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
    And I know that Thou art with me,
    Wilt be with me to the end.

Lean on God in these times. take time to build your relationship with Him. Trust in His plans for you.

God Bless!
