Easily Impressed

And He said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”

Matthew 18:3 NIV

Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

Mark 10:15 NIV

My youngest daughter and I went for a walk to the mailbox.

On the way we came upon a run off pond. It was your typical run off pond. It was not the cleanest water. There was tall grass poking through the water. But what was there that caught my daughters eye? Ducks!

She thought they were so cute especially the seven baby ducks. She watched them swim around and stick their heads into the water. She was fascinated by them.

She didn’t see the dirty water. She saw cute ducks. She was easily impressed.

That is part of the child like Spirit we are called to have. When we see beautiful colors of the sky at sunset or hear a child laugh, when we look through a telescope at the night sky or through a microscope at the tiniest thing, we should be in awe of everything God had made. Whether we get over a cold or beat Covid-19, we should be thankful and amazed at God’s power and love.

Carl Boberg from Sweden wrote this:

It was that time of year when everything seemed to be in its richest colouring; the birds were singing in trees and everywhere. It was very warm; a thunderstorm appeared on the horizon and soon there was thunder and lightning. We had to hurry to shelter. But the storm was soon over and the clear sky appeared. When I came home I opened my window toward the sea. There evidently had been a funeral and the bells were playing the tune of “When eternity’s clock calls my saved soul to its Sabbath rest”. That evening, I wrote the song, “O Store Gud”. These are the words to that song:

O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder Thy power throughout the universe displayed

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee how great Thou art, how great Thou art Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee how great Thou art, how great Thou art

And when I think of God, His Son not sparing sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in

That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing He bled and died to take away my sin

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee how great Thou art, how great Thou art. Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee how great Thou art, how great Thou art

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation and lead me home, what joy shall fill my heart

Then I shall bow with humble adoration and then proclaim, my God, how great Thou art

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee how great Thou art, how great Thou art. Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee how great Thou art, how great Thou art

Be easily impressed! God bless.
