Last night at 5PM, things were starting to open… a soft, guarded open… a safe opening… protected, while starting our way back.
I turned 69 on that very day. The day of the reopening of The United States of America! What a day that was! I even got a haircut that day.
It turned out to be one of the best birthdays in recent memories! Just a few days before my birthday, Pastor Kenny had a birthday making him the perfect age. Then a day or two later, we celebrated Brother Krempels 100th birthday. What a blessing seeing all the people wishing him a happy birthday. What a weekend it was!
May 18th, I started my last year of ministry. I will still preach and do some teaching, but my responsibilities will be greatly reduced. Then May 2021 Jeannie and I will start our full retirement.
The weekend started with some newly granted, old freedoms. That even sounds like retirement. My “new norm” will truly be brand new for me! I have been in full-time ministry since 1971. That is a lot of 24/7 days. A lot of very blessed times. But my spiritual growth seemed to be most noticed by me in these last 20 years.
I am not sure why, but it seems to happen that way. It is called maturity. Along with maturity comes a closeness with the Lord that calms my soul and speaks peace. I hope all of you get to that point in your spiritual life.
I have always tried to do my best as the Lord directed. In that I found strength, especially during times of opposition. Staying true to the calling was my focus!
The Lord always had me busy. He used me to help in so many ways, even around the world. Ministry, that as I look back upon, seems miraculous. I was involved in so many lives… in so many different ways… it is hard to believe, even for me, that I was a part of, and also experienced, so many truly remarkable things… things I never thought I could do.
I guess my advice for anyone who may be looking for advice is to always stay close to the Lord and follow wherever He leads. He may even have you walking on water someday.
As I wrote this my mind was filled with so many Scriptures… too many to include. So I would like you, after reading this, to pick a few Scriptures that would go along with these thoughts and share them with us all in the comment section.
