“Memorizing God’s Word”

Scripture Memorization

I was introduced to a very powerful Christian principle that has almost been completely abandoned lately.

It is “Scripture memorization.”

I know you think you can’t remember this or that and you are too old or too sad or too whatever.  Please… stop it… you have been lied too!

You can memorize scripture.  Jesus will help you.

There are Christians all over the world who have to memorize the Bible verses because it is against the law to be in possession of a Bible.  Voice of the Martyrs recently made a list of 125 verses that house-church members and their leaders in Iran are memorizing. “They are recalling these verses when in jail or other places and are unable to access a Bible.” (VOM)

I suggest we memorize a couple of verses each week and test each other.  Challenge your kids. Teach them to pray, especially for persecuted Christians.

This was not my idea, but it should have been!  We have become weak because we don’t know the Word like we should and we don’t pray like we should.

I will include two verses in one of my blogs each week.  We will also put this on FacebookWe need to pray and there is plenty to pray for.

From time to time we will highlight special needs or specific missions’ endeavors.

I hope you will see the need and allow the Holy Spirit to grow you through prayer and Bible reading.

So here are our first two verses.  All will be in the New King James translation.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

John 3:16

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

Ephesians 2:8-9
