One of the things I like to do as I read the scriptures is write down just one thing, one quick takeaway from the section. It’s a simple practice that anybody can do, it helps to reinforce what I’ve read, and it gives me an opportunity to engage with what the Holy Spirit might be trying to teach me.
This is my “quick thought” from today’s reading in 2 Corinthians 1-3.
“All of us! Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.” ~2 Corinthians 3:18 MSG
It’s not transactional, it’s transformational!
We don’t pay our dues, say the right prayers, check the boxes, and receive a heavenly paycheck. God is not just another employer with a great benefits package who we work for. No, God already paid the price so that we could be transformed! God is the Good Father who loves his children dearly, nothing separates us from his love, and we are his children being transformed by the brightness and beauty of his love.
And so, we reflect the image of God, and as we are being completely transformed into his image. Whether the reflection is dim or bright matters little, what matters is that it is his transformative reflection.
We are his Holy children unveiled for the world to see his ever increasing beauty transforming us into his likeness, and so the world may know that nothing separates them from the light of his love!
This is what I heard in today’s reading of 2 Corinthians 1-3. What do you hear?
