One of the things I like to do as I read the scriptures is write down just one thing, one quick takeaway from the section. For me, it’s a process that helps me move from simply reading the Word to allowing the Word to read me.
It’s a simple practice that anybody can do, it helps to reinforce what I’ve read, and it gives me an opportunity to engage with what the Holy Spirit might be trying to teach me.
This is my “quick thought” from today’s reading in Psalms 78-80
“We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about his power and his mighty wonders.” ~Psalms 78:4
They have to know; they have a right to know!
They have to know and we have the privilege of telling the most wonderful, most glorious, and most adventurous truth in all of history! It’s the truth that Jesus’ self-giving love is far more powerful than anything separating us from him, and now because of his mighty wonders, we have the opportunity to be welcomed home, celebrated, and participate in life with him!
So as long as I have my physical life, I will continue to participate in Life with Jesus and let the coming generations know of his mighty wonders because they have a right to know!
This is what I heard in today’s reading, what did you hear?
