This is my “quick thought” from today’s reading in Matthew 11-13.
“He won’t walk over anyone’s feelings, won’t push you into a corner. Before you know it, his justice will triumph; the mere sound of his name will signal hope, even among far-off unbelievers.” ~Matthew 12:20-21 MSG
He is the perfect embodiment of hope and justice!
What’s more, he knows how to enact justice in a way that cares for everyone even those who are far-off. How I wish we as his followers could reflect this better! Yet I fear we are too much like Peter, quick to speak, slow to listen, and ready to draw the sword believing it’s the way to righteousness.
What if I were more like Jesus? What if I didn’t walk over the feelings of others? What if I didn’t aggressively back people into a corner to get what I perceive to be my rights. Would justice triumph? Would hope still be known to all?
This is what I heard in today’s reading, what do you hear?
