Quick Thought Thursday: Hope Weeps With Us

This is my “quick thought” from today’s reading in Mark 13-14.

“‘Before the rooster crows twice you will disown me three times.’ And he broke down and wept.” ~Mark 14:72

Peter wept.

The Gospel of John tells us that “Jesus wept” in chapter 11. Jesus wept over the death and brokenness in the world; Jesus wept over the death and brokenness among his dearly beloved. Peter wept over the depth of brokenness in his own life!

It’s appropriate for us to weep over the depth of sin in the world, but unless we personalize it, we’ll never fully understand the brokenness in our own lives. Peter wept bitterly, but despite what he might have thought, hope was not lost.

Hope is found in the one who weeps with us!

This is what I heard in today’s reading, what did you hear?
