Quick Thought Thursday: Shameless Audacity

This is my “quick thought” from today’s reading in Luke 11-12.

“ … yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.” ~Luke 11:8

How do you relate to the Good Father?

Jesus teaches us to pray by starting with “Father,” the acknowledgment that God is our Father, and he follows this prayer with parable uplifting his Goodness. How do we relate to the Good Father? I hope it’s with the “shameless audacity” of a beloved child!

“Shameless audacity” sounds bad, but imagine a bruised child covered in mud running into the arms of a good father for comfort. Imagine this in the middle of a very public place during an important event. The good father isn’t concerned with his image, his cleanliness, or what others might think. In light of the good father’s love is for his child; all else pales in comparison.

Now, realize that the Good Father doesn’t just want us to wait until we are bruised and covered in mud, we can run into his loving presence with shameless audacity at all times. He doesn’t want us to use him for his love; he wants to be with us because He has the audacity to unashamedly call us His beloved children!

This is what I heard in today’s reading, what did you hear?
